I am not what anyone would call an early adopter of tech. I generally wait until a piece of electronics or application or software has proven it’s self useful before I will spend my time or money on it. I am big on form AND function.
So when I became aware that some blog followers didn’t know about blog reader/aggregators I thought I should bring them up here.
Many times when people discover a blog or info site they want to follow they sign up to “follow” that blog and this means they are getting an email every time there is a new posting on that blog…which is fine…unless you follow a LOT of blogs and info sites. I post to my blog anywhere from 3 to 5 times a week. If you follow a dozen blogs and they post three times a week that’s an awful lot of emails clogging your inbox and it can get annoying.
I follow well over a hundred blogs (not all quilting!) and I would lose my mind if I got an email from each one a few times a week. Yikes! But I don’t get any emails from the blogs I follow. Because I follow them using Feedly, a FREE blog reader service. I signed up and added the blogs I like to keep up with and bookmarked my Feedly account. Now I catch up with my favorite blogs at MY convenience.
There are other services that do the same thing as Feedly. It is just the one I happen to be familiar with. Google or Bing or whatever you use – blog reader or blog aggregator and you can see which one works best for you. It’s an easy way to keep up and also keep your inbox clear 🙂
